We've all had them... you know, the people who come into our lives, and you KNOW they're not good for you. But there is just something about them that you are drawn to - like a moth to a flame. You know you'll get hurt, or worse... but you can't help it.
These people aren't especially beautiful, or charismatic. They're not necessarily intellectually stimulating. But there is just something - in that time and in that particular place - that they appear. And then they take over.
Maybe it's that they fill a need that the person didn't even know they have? Maybe it's the attention?
A friend is wrestling with someone like this right now in her life. I try to tell her to let it go - but I can see that look in her eyes that she's stuck, smitten, infatuated... and only when she gets hurt (the second, third, or fourth time) will she finally let it go.
I hope it's the second time
